STEVE HARRIS BOOK – REVIEWS
Fans from the official Iron Maiden forum had the chance to read exclusive excerpts from the book in order to witness the quality of writing. Read their reactions!
Wow, that was very interesting text to read and it could be something from like Metallica’s book or Axl Rose’s book, real professional. What i most like is the small side details on how something has made or things Harris did. Also nice to see how (in this case, Dave Lights) got into working with maiden and telling the very first gigs they did. Its good stuff to talk about the very beginning because a lot of people who read it might be in bands and they can relate to the situations. Because maidens first pub gigs are the same as for many other bands. If the rest of the book is like this then you’ve got A-class book coming out, good luck on it.
Totally awesome my friend. Very well written, I really like the format of interviewing all these different people who will tell their stories of Steve. Everyone has always heard all the Maiden news and information, but it is finally nice to hear about Steve the person. I always wanted to know more about the people that make up Maiden and would love to see similar books about Adrian, Dave, Nicko and Janick. I think it is very important to understand all of the pieces that make up Iron Maiden before you can truly understand the band itself. I find it so incredibly interesting to read all that I can about everything surrounding Maiden and all of it’s members. Congrats it looks like you have done an excellent job letting us peer into the life of Steve and the events and experiences that have made him exactly who he is now. I would like to be the first person in line to buy a copy, do you have any idea of when it will be available? Cheers! Chris
Congratulations ! it’s the very first word that comes in my mind about this text I am speechless….. What a hard and nice work you made there ! I can’t wait to get the book in my hand… It’s VERY VERY interesting ! There is something else that i really appreciate ! English is not your original language ! neither mine of course… and that’s why the all text is so understandable… and that’s a very good think because i guess you will send your book everywhere in the world not only for the english or american fans…so that’s a very good point (a talking about ” good point” i know What i am talking about ! It’s a part of my job ! I am the principal and of course an ex-teacher) I hope we (the fans) will have some special pictures of steve’s mate or special documents… I am dying to get the book ! Once again : CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU !!!!!!! Could you please let me know as soon as the book is out ! Thank you ! All the best to you Greetings from Belgium Etienne (the principal)
Dear Maidenite: First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Your book is very well written and has a very fresh air to it. Just 1 things I want to address you. First is the comment that Dave makes about him being the model for the first Eddie. Now, in various interviews and even in the official biography of the band “Run To The Hills” written by Mick Wall, it is pointed out that the first Incarnation of Eddie (seen in the first LP) was already drawn by Derek Riggs, and the only modification he suffered was on it’s hair (cause it looked punky) which of course means that there’s no way that Dave served as a model for it. Once again, I praise your work and very much look forward of seeing more of your book. The best of luck mate.
Hi Stipe. I follow the topic about this book at the official forum and I am happy many Maiden fans are giving you support. Please take your time for this book. Dont rush blindly. I hope you can have a very good English language version. Remember a lot of us are not necessary good in the English language, so maybe you can have someone to help you ensure the English version is not that difficult. Your opinion on Paul’s lyric of Remember Tomorrow is fantastic. Dont be afraid to add some of it to your book. I will ensure I will help to spread the word of this book to Maiden fans in Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia. Faiz (maidensingapore) p.s – any more reviews?

Hello. Now i have read the preview-hope the book will out soon because i can´t wait to read more!!! I must say I like it to read about what´s going behind the Maiden world and to hear it from people who were there. What i liked most in the preview was that there were no holds barred-you write also about the problems behind the Maiden world, which gives a different side to all official biography. Keep up the good work and up the irons! Heiko
Dear Stipe, I have now read the chapter about Dave Lights. It’s definitely a nice read. Have you organized the whole thing in chapter like these dedicated to single persons in Steve’s life? Should be a nice read the ones from Lorraine and from Emma. I wish you the best for the release of your book. In Feb 2008 I asked Dave and Rod about the authorization for a new chapter of our Iron Maiden Companion saga but since that, even if I was in touch with the new Phantom people a lot of times, never had a word about that. In the meanwhile several other books came out and the Internet took a big role in the collecting mania. Hope we’ll sort it out during the next tour. Cheers, Marco
Hi Stipe, It is very interesting take on Maiden. I like what you’ve done with it and it reads quite well. It reads like I expected it to, with anecdotes about Steve and Maiden, and it’s this stuff that the real fans are interested in, the thoughts and recollections of those close to Maiden that haven’t been covered before. As I said in the PM I would be very interested in buying the finished article. There are a couple of literacy errors in the text which I’m sure you’ll get put right at publication. Psychologist is spelt two different ways in your text and you’ve got months’ using an apostrophe which is not needed. Sorry for mentioning but I teach English!!! Great work and let me know when you’re going to publish. Cheers and up the irons! Mark, England.
Rod & Steve are portrayed quite harshly, because they were relatively young at the time perhaps this could excuse some of their indiscretions. It was surprising to read some of the information but interesting. I would also add a bit more focus on the positives of Dennis being involved in the great first album, because it propelled them to stardom, and each person should be very proud of their legacy being involved in it. So from this perspective i would like to hear a bit more about how exciting it was being involved in this from Dennis, the reaction from the fans and excitement at being involved in the formulative years.
An absolutely fantastic job compiling great insight and capturing insight to a phenomenal musician and a great man. Working to set up the pay account. Thanks for the read. Great job!!!!
