These people bring us stories about Iron Maiden - PAGE ONE

ANTONIO BIGGIO (ITALY/UNITED KINGDOM) is an author from Italy, who lives and works in England. Antonio is not a typical writer of Maiden-related books; he is not a biographer, he is not a researcher, he is not a collector, he does not speculate on information, he is not a conspiracy theorist, he is not a writer of fan adventures and travelogues, but he entered the world of Iron Maiden in a completely different and for many unexpected way. Namely, Antonio used the great and somewhat mystical story that unfolds around the band Iron Maiden and not only around the band members, concerts and management and crucial decisions of their career but also around their album covers and the indispensable mascot Eddie, to create a fantastic thriller trilogy, which very quickly conquered the world. Antonio does not stop there, and includes members of the Killer Krew and legendary people who were in the Iron Maiden circle and very quickly gains the affection of both fans, and even band members and members of their families. STEVE ‘LOOPY’ NEWHOUSE (UNITED KINGDOM) is the very first roadie for Iron Maiden, who ended up almost by chance in the dusty cellars where a legend was born, a band that at the time was still virtually unknown, but already promised great things. From there, he began his career as a roadie that would take him everywhere with Iron Maiden, from their first shows with the new singer to their establishment as a leading band on the international heavy metal scene. Born in 1957, Steve has lived in and around east London all his life. After finally leaving school in 1972 with no qualifications whatsoever, Steve had a variety of jobs in supermarkets and warehouses. In 1978, Steve met a few people that would change everything; Iron Maiden. He became a roadie for the band, and traveled the world until 1984, when he left the band and worked as a stage hand in London.

After various other tours and doing some of the oddest things that came under the music banner, Steve quit the business in 1995, when he was offered a job with Royal Mail, and eventually retired in 2016 to pursue a career in writing. Steve has six children and six grandchildren, and he currently lives in Romford, Essex with his wife Sharron. Click here to find more info about his books.

CHRIS DALE (UNITED KINGDOM) has many talents; as a heavy metal bass player, he has played for artists such as Bruce Dickinson, Eric Martin and Ricky Gervais as well as bands such as Sack Trick, Tank, Atom Seed, Monument and many more. As a writer on the subject of  his experience of the music industry, he has written for MetalTalk, For Bass Players Only and the award winning documentary Scream For Me Sarajevo. More recently he published on Amazon, ‘Inside the Skunkworks Machine’, the full story of Bruce Dickinson’s most mysterious musical project. As a military historian, he specialise in  the study of the armed forces of the German colonies in Africa and Asia prior to the First World War. He has been published in English and German on the topic online and in print for Osprey Men at Arms and Zeitschrift für Heereskunde.  More recently he published on Amazon two books on the Traditions of the Imperial German Infantry and Cavalry Regiments. RICARDO LIRA (BRAZIL) has been curious all his life, always chasing mysteries, always jumping over the walls of houses and climbing onto their roofs to see what he could find, risking getting caught. Heavy metal found him on one of these walks, when a friend played him the Walkman and on the tape there were bands like Helloween, Sepultura and Iron Maiden. Since then, he hasn’t stopped collecting songs and stories, until in 2009 there was enough knowledge for Lira to understand that the Maiden universe defied the logic of other types of explorers, and that didn’t seem any less exciting. Intensely researching Iron Maiden and hundreds of related groups, Lira set off on an unusual journey, plunging into the depths of one of the most incredible and mysterious bands the world has ever known. He realized his dream when he launched his MAIDEN AVENUE project with Stjepan Juras’ Firma Books. And it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon! Lira lives in Petrópolis/Brasíl; a place in the mountains that makes him walk at night and reveals many things. His first book ‘Maiden Avenue’ volume I. is literally breathtaking, but the second one (volume II.), which will see the light of day very soon, will complete that madness to the end. You can buy his book ‘Maiden Avenue’ at this link.

ERIC GUSTAFSÖN (SWEDEN) is not a writer. He is primarily a fan and collector of Iron Maiden records. But when collectors decide to go much crazier than anything you have seen so far, then books are created that will be talked about for years and centuries to come. His trilogy about Iron Maiden singles ‘Burning Records, Burning books…’ already showed with the first volume of the book that Erik’s collecting passion is beyond all limits of sanity, and all three books together are one monumental work worthy of admiration. But here we are talking about three books only about Iron Maiden singles. In the next trilogy, which Erik is currently working on, he will write about Iron Maiden albums and all their releases and formats. Regardless of whether you are a casual fan or a big record collector, these books are intended for everyone, because some will discourage collecting, and some will actually encourage it. If you want to order one of Erik’s books or all of them in a set, find them at this link.

ANASTASIO GUERRERO (SPAIN), during the publication of his first book “The Book of Posters” modestly wrote on his website: “After more than two years of work, finally I can announce my small contribution to the Maiden family. A book (self-published) dedicated to the posters, one of my passions when collecting. Its size is 21x21cm with a soft cover. It’s 350 pages include more than 500 full color photographs as well as information about each poster; type of paper, dimensions, etc. Only 200 copies of this first limited edition and each book will be numbered by hand.” He dedicated his book to all the unknown artists who made those posters. Although it has been many years since the book sold out, the requests for a new print do not stop and put Anastasio to the test to reprint the book and possibly add all the new posters that have been created in the meantime. You can’t order the book right now, but it would definitely be a good idea to visit this link and join the Facebook group where fans are hotly discussing Iron Maiden posters.

ANTONIO DAVIDE MIOTTO (ITALY) was born in Turin on July 3, 1971, and has spent almost his entire life in Moncalieri, a town just a stone’s throw from the Piedmontese capital. In his life, he played bass as a self-taught musician for a few years in a local band, only to later make room for his greatest passion: Iron Maiden. Today, he remains a die-hard fan of the English band and is the founder of Maiden Italia, the largest Italian community dedicated to the band on social media. Through his persistent work and engagement on social media, he has created some of the most visited Iron Maiden related Facebook pages, which are extremely important for both the band and the fans, and with his daily updates, he is one of the most consistent fans on social media.. JUHANA KOLI (FINLAND) is not a professional author, whose primary job is to write. He is a passionate Iron Maiden fan, who is willing to go to hell and back for his favorite band. During their travels, Koli and his friends find themselves in many different situations, and sometimes their lives are in danger, whether in the midst of armed conflicts in Russia or surfing on a remote paradise island in Brazil. However, they have not looked back once since Maiden called. What makes middle-aged working adults live so fanatically with a music band? Where did the fandom start and why and how did it deepen? And how do the bands themselves experience their most passionate fans? The issue is examined through the eyes of Iron Maiden members, current and former, as well as other people connected to the band.
