For many reasons, Antonio Biggio, an author from Italy, who lives and works in England, could and should be on our list of authors of the month. However, why did we decide to start this entire series with him? Antonio is not a typical writer of Maiden-related books; he is not a biographer, he is not a researcher, he is not a collector, he does not speculate on information, he is not a conspiracy theorist, he is not a writer of fan adventures and travelogues, but he entered the world of Iron Maiden in a completely different and for many unexpected way. Namely, Antonio used the great and somewhat mystical story that unfolds around the band Iron Maiden and not only around the band members, concerts and management and crucial decisions of their career but also around their album covers and the indispensable mascot Eddie, to create a fantastic thriller trilogy, which very quickly conquered the world. Antonio does not stop there, and includes members of the Killer Krew and legendary people who were in the Iron Maiden circle and very quickly gains the affection of both fans, and even band members and members of their families. Antonio Biggio was born in Santa Margherita Ligure (GE) in July 1970. IMG 7754. He began composing poetry at the age of five and made his theatrical debut at nine in a school play, a passion that has kept him on stage ever since. He graduated in Performing Arts in 1994 from the Starline of Cinecittà (Rome). Biggio founded and directed three theatre companies, the latest being the Compagnia Stabile del Teatro R&G Govi in Genoa, where he also served as Production Director. For over 15 years, he taught theatrical techniques both at the company’s school and in middle and high schools. In thirty years of theater, he boasts over eighty performances, ranging from classical to modern and cabaret.
This passion, along with his love for cooking, football, and Iron Maiden, has always distinguished him and continues to do so today. In 2013, he moved to Great Britain, where he now lives with his family. As an author, he published a collection of poems titled “Amore Teatro Malinconia” in 1991. In June 2021, his first novel “Eddie deve morire” was published by Blitos Edizioni. In October 2021, the English version “Eddie must die” was released worldwide by Blitos Edizioni. He curated the Italian translation of the book “Loopyworld – The Iron Maiden Years” by Steve Loopy Newhouse, published by Tsunami Edizioni in June 2022.
In September 2022, the second book in the trilogy “Il sepolcro di Eddie” was released, followed by the English version “Eddie’s Grave” in January 2023. The novels were also translated into Spanish and released as “Eddie debe morir” in February 2023 and “El sepulcro de Eddie” in November 2023, reaching all Spanish-speaking countries, including South America. Recognitions: “Eddie must die” and “Eddie’s Grave” were both awarded 5 stars by Reader’s Favorite USA. “Eddie deve morire” was awarded at Sanremo Writers in 2024 for Italian Literature in the World. “L’enigma dei tre Eddie“, the last chapter of the “Trilogy of Andrew Briggs and Iron Maiden” debuted in preview at the International Turin Book Fair 2024.
